Master Scheduling Support

Scheduling with Equity

Crenshaw Educational Equity Consultants have more than 20 years of school scheduling experience, having supported the scheduling processes for multiple schedule types (6-period, 7-period, 8-period, block schedule, A/B block, modified block, etc.) in various school sizes.

Love it or hate it, creating a school's master schedule is one of the most important tasks for school administrators.  While some administrators perceive the creation of the master schedule to be a tactical operational task, many administrators miss the opportunity to use the master schedule as a strategic tool to drive the school's equity mission.

Consider this:

  1. By the end of the 2020-2021 school year, students were an average of five months behind in math and four months behind in reading, with learning loss exacerbated for students of color, students who live in poverty, and students who live in rural or urban settings.
  2. Some schools and districts continue to have a disproportionate number of minority students identified for IEPs.
  3. Students in rural and some urban schools have fewer opportunities to access higher-level STEM courses and career-aligned elective courses than their suburban peers.
  4. Performance on college placement tests has declined since the COVID-19 pandemic.

How do these (and other) challenges impact the strategy for your school's schedule?   As administrators, you are responsible for planning every second of a child's time in your school building.  Let us help you build a master schedule that fosters student achievement.
